A new retrospective observational cohort study evaluating the effectiveness of carbon hemoperfusion for treating canine NSAID toxicities observed excellent outcomes in patients treated with hemoperfusion. The study, which looked at 35 dogs who ingested a range of NSAIDS (ibuprofen, carprofen, naproxen, meloxicam, aspirin), all at doses known to cause renal or central nervous system effects, reported an overall survival rate of 94% with a median hospitalization of 1.7 days.
