On-Demand Webinar: Hemoperfusion – A “Newer” Technique for Treating the Poisoned Patient

Watch this webinar now to learn about expanded treatment options for treating poisoned patients

Companion animals, particularly dogs and cats, are great at getting into things they shouldn’t, making poisoning a common reason for veterinary visits. Human and veterinary medications, whether over-the-counter or prescription, along with household chemicals, are frequent culprits, with exposure occurring either from accidental ingestion or iatrogenic means.

Extracorporeal therapy (ECT) offers an effective treatment option for these poisoned patients – especially those who ingested high levels of a toxin. During this webinar, we will briefly review conventional treatment for toxin exposure and then explore expanded treatment options with extracorporeal therapy.

Key topics explored:

  • A review of available ECT modalities
  • A discussion of ECT applicability to toxin removal
  • Guidelines for when and how to refer a patient for ECT treatment
