ImmutriX Therapeutics Awarded U.S. Department of Defense Contract to Advance Blood-Purification Capability for Military Working Dogs

Rapid City, SD, September 23, 2026 – ImmutriX Therapeutics (d.b.a. AimaLojic® Animal Health) is pleased to announce a new contract with the U.S. Department of Defense to adapt and optimize extracorporeal therapy technology for field use in Military Working Dogs, helping expand access to life-saving blood purification treatment in challenging environments.

Dr. Ronald Shape, CEO & CFO of AimaLojic Animal Health, stated, “We are very pleased to be selected for this DoD SBIR contract. Our cutting-edge technology aligns well with national security priorities. We look forward to working closely with the Department of Defense to deliver innovative products that directly protect the Military Working Dogs.”

Military working dogs play an important role in key missions, from security to search and rescue. Their deployment in challenging environments can expose them to a range of hazards, including toxic substances and other conditions that may require rapid, specialized medical intervention. A portable blood-purification capability could provide veterinary teams with an additional treatment option when conventional resources are limited or unavailable.

Jeff Barnes, Vice President of Business Development at AimaLojic Animal Health, added, “Military Working Dogs perform critical missions in some of the most challenging environments imaginable, yet veterinary capabilities in those environments are inherently limited. This project gives AimaLojic an opportunity to apply our hemoperfusion and activated-carbon technology in new ways to address the unique challenges of severe toxic exposure in these valuable animals. By combining our experience in hemoperfusion with the operational expertise of military veterinary professionals, we hope to provide new capabilities that can help protect these essential animals when rapid evacuation or conventional veterinary care is not available.”

The effort builds on ImmutriX’s proprietary activated carbon hemoperfusion technology, which uses adsorption to remove targeted substances directly from circulating blood. Hemoperfusion offers a significant improvement over the current standard of care for severe toxicity, allowing for faster removal of toxins (as little as 90 minutes) to prevent long-term organ damage. Compared to other extracorporeal therapies such as dialysis and therapeutic plasma exchange, carbon hemoperfusion can also treat the widest range of common toxicities, often at a lower cost.
